National Resource Institutes
At the National Level
Under the programme, ten institutions have been designated as National Resource Institutes (NRI). These institutions are:-
- BITS Pillani, Rajasthan
- CBRI, Roorkee
- IIS, Bangalore
- IIT, Bombay
- IIT, Delhi
- IIT, Guwahati
- IIT, Kharagpur
- IIT, Madras
- IIT, Roorkee
- SERC, Chennai
These institutions conduct training programmes for faculty members from State Resource Institutes (SRI) in a four weeks special module on seismically safe construction and retrofitting. In all, 420 faculty members are to be trained. For the ToT, as per syllabus decided by MHA, NRIs have prepared course modules and printed the material. The MHA/IIT Roorkee has developed and printed course curriculum and training materials for two weeks’ module for practising engineers.
The NRIs have trained 223 faculty members of the SRIs till 2007-08.
