The Disaster & Development Journal is a publication for academia, policymakers, and professionals working in the fields of disaster management. The Journal publishes fundamental and applied research, critical reviews, policy papers, and case studies, with a special emphasis on multidisciplinary research aimed at reducing the impact of natural, technological, social, and environmental hazards. The Journal promotes the exchange of ideas and knowledge on disaster research, prevention, mitigation, adaptation, preparedness, risk reduction and resilience at all geographical scales across every section of the society in different sectors. The broad topics that are considered, but not restricted to, include cascading catastrophes, chronic and complex disasters, past, existing and emerging disasters, the development of strategies and techniques for disaster risk reduction and resilience, development of effective early warning systems for risk management, natural hazards linked to climate change, trends in vulnerability analysis and emergent risks, enhancing resilience to natural hazards etc.
The Journal is an interdisciplinary English language publication dedicated to advancing the field of disaster risk reduction and development. Its primary aims are to publish problem-driven and solution-oriented research articles that tackle real world problems and propose actionable solutions in disaster risk management.
